Biota is a two player strategy based card game. Players build their deck with creature cards, each representing a creature with a unique ability. Players win by conquering "habitats," unique environments with varying effects. Biota balances game system mechanics with aesthetics.
The complete box includes 100+ creature cards, as well as location cards, energy cards, and food/energy counters. Biota also has a Berries in the Aviary booster pack, which consists of 55 Bird and Berry Cards.

These plants and animals contain a digital illustration of the creature, underneath shows its common and scientific name and unique ability.
In the colorful blocks are its diet, cost, and dominance. The bottom of the card shows the card’s set and rarity. .
The card back’s geometric design fits with the aesthetic of Biota in its delicacy and geometry.
This is a 55 card tuck box for a specialty set sold separately from the main character cards. It is called
“Berries in the Aviary.”
This set contains bird character cards, such as the Shoebill, Hummingbird, Anchorage White Raven, and Channel Billed Toucan. It also contains Berry food cards.
These location cards are inspired by real life natural biomes, each with the name of the biome, which continent it is on, and its unique effect. The bottom of the card shares the set and rarity of each location.
These food cards can be consumed by creatures in the game. They tie in graphic illustrative elements from the back of the cards into the front designs. The illustrations are done in the same style, and the backgrounds stand out in a way that quickens gameplay and makes them discernable amongst other cards.
These colorful counter tokens are sources of food in the game or +1 and Null effects.
The sources of food are : sun, plant, prey, carrion, and plankton.
Tokens are excellent tactile pieces which can be layered over cards. They are double sided for ease of access.
The game box for Biota is 10.5×8×2.5, and contains creature cards, location cards, food cards, counter tokens, and the instruction manual.
